how it works
Today, massage therapy is part of many physical rehabilitation programs-- yet it's one of the oldest healing arts known to mankind. Massage reduces tension throughout the body; many use it as part of managing chronic conditions like low back pain, arthritis, bursitis, fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, immunity suppression, smoking cessation, depression, anxiety, and more. While many forms of massage exist, touch therapy often works through the below:
Fascial Network. The "fascial network" is the net of connective tissue surrounding muscles and other tissues. When the fascial network experiences injury or stress, it may result in widespread health consequences, as the body adapts (for example, shifting how it carries itself). Many believe massage heals, at least partly, through the movement of the fascia and by restoring fascial balance.

Muscles. Remaining in a stationary position can cause muscle fibers to stick together, restricting movement and becoming painful. Massage breaks down these adhesions in order to help restore a normal range of movement. Additionally, massage stimulates blood flow and lymphatic circulation, which can speed up recovery from muscle fatigue, and help some people rely less on pain medications.

Heart & Mind. Massage increases blood flow and decreases heart rate. It may produce a 'relaxation response' -- in which the body enters a restful state, producing benefits like those found from yoga, playing a musical instrument, or practicing meditation. It can release endorphins (the body's natural pain killer) producing a feeling of 'calm' akin to a 'runner's high.'

Nerves. Massage therapy reduces painful muscle contractions and spasms that can compress nearby nerves. In turn, for some people, massage reduces various forms of nerve-related discomfort and compression.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Each body is unique and the exact benefits derived may vary person-to-person. However, massage remains a time-honored tradition, with many formally and informally documented effects. Book a session with Tru Deep to find out how massage helps you!
